Sonikustik and Friends
Sonikustik is a collective established as a space for interdisciplinary artists based in Pontianak and its surrounding regions to meet, engage in dialogue, and create together. Their practice centres on experimental intermedia presentations, bringing contemporary issues into collaborative artistic expression enriched by relevant technological elements.
On this occasion, Sonikustik collaborates with a group of tattoo artists from Paris to explore ecological issues through empirical experiences and interpretative paradigms drawn from several sites in West Kalimantan. This collaboration is presented through the work Has the Holiday Arrived?, which reflects on ecology from both local and transnational perspectives.
Sonikustik members: Rama Anggara, Rami Syahbandi, Fadhli Dzil Ikram, Ferdy Ardian
Paris tattoo artists: Marcos Garau, Valentine Deprez, Lisa Cancian, Nuage Nuage

Title : Apakah Libur Telah Tiba ?
Medium : Mix Media
Size : 200x200cm
Year : 2025
This work presents a paradoxical experiential landscape that questions the meaning of “holiday” within the context of environmental crisis. Are we truly on holiday when nature itself is no longer well? Can freedom of consumption be called a genuine break if its residue binds the future in chains of destruction? Behind the joy promised by industrial commodities and tourism advertising, traces of environmental damage remain unresolved, concealed beneath a veneer of comfort and leisure.
Has the Holiday Arrived? is a silent cry from aquatic ecosystems exploited as commodities without respite. The work reconsiders the meaning of recreation in an increasingly exhausted world. When nature is denied time to recover, when rivers and seas become dumping grounds, and when we continue to extract whatever remains, who, in fact, is truly on holiday? This installation does not offer answers, but instead invites a reflective pause—to stop, to contemplate, and to ask again: if a holiday is meant to heal, have we ever allowed nature the time to do so?
